I hope your plan to visit hill stations during this winter season will turn out to be most pleasing and exciting. As myself hailing from the hills of North Bengal, and Sikkim being very close to my native place, I think I may be able to clear your doubts regarding your visit to Darjeeling and Sikkim.

Ok, let me start by letting you know that Darjeeling hills are comprised of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, two districts of the state of West Bengal in India. Sikkim itself is an Indian state comprised of four districts.

#1. Visiting Darjiling or Sikkim depends on your choice. It depends on what budget you have fixed and what are your requirements.

#2. Darjeeling is famous for several things to name some, Darjeeling is well-known as it is a favorite tourist destination. You can visit Tiger Hill and witness an early sunrise. You can have a ride on the Toy Train powered by the only Steam Engine available in India. You can also visit the lush green, world famous tea producing tea gardens like Happy Valley Tea Garden, Makaibari, etc. Besides those attractions, Darjeeling has a History Museum, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute HMI, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Rock Garden, Batasia Loop, and many, many more.

#3. I believe both Sikkim and Darjeeling are noted for their own scenic beauty. Both tourist destinations are equally beautiful. If possible, I would suggest you visit both.

#4. On clear days the world's third highest mountain Kanchenjunga is clearly visible from various locations of Darjeeling hills and Sikkim as well.

#5. Yes, one week is more than enough to visit Darjeeling and Sikkim.
